The unidentified Gates that appeared with the sphere's arrival spewed out hideous Irregulars. The city centers quickly became ruins, leading to continuous pandemonium mixed with fear and chaos.
Meanwhile, throughout the world, as if offering a cruel form of hope, 'Sentinels'—who possessed abilities to fight the Irregulars—and 'Guiders'—who could prevent their mental breakdown—began to appear. Humanity quickly established a system for these super-powered individuals to fight back.
