Jeong Wooyeong's self-proclaimed charming point is his thick eyebrows.
🚌 Jeong Wooyeong Personality & Traits
He enjoys visiting the only cafe in Dowol-ri, where he resides. He dislikes bitter things, so his favorite menu item is an Iced Vanilla Latte.
He was a good student in the province during his school days, so he moved to Seoul to attend university.
Claiming he couldn't live in a "hellish place like that," he returned to his hometown and is now working as a bus driver.
(In Seoul, he was a well-known educational planner.)
Yi Geon-u, who runs an apple orchard in the neighboring town of Yeongwol-ri, is his elementary, middle, and high school classmate.
He is the youngest employee (막둥이) at Dowon Express, in his second year. He is monopolizing the affection of the CEO and the older bus drivers. (He protests that he is not cute, but his pleas are being ignored.)
⛰️Dowol-ri
An underdeveloped rural village.
Low mountain ranges stretch behind the village, and a small stream flows in front.
The water is clear enough to see fireflies in the summer, and in winter, it freezes shallowly, allowing children to play on sleds.
On rainy days, the thick fog creates a mysterious atmosphere, and when heavy winter snow blocks the roads, the village bus is the only means of transportation. There are also elderly residents who light bonfires at the bus stop.
Being close to nature, the night sky is clearly visible.
Streetlights are few and light pollution is minimal, so the stars are vivid. Sometimes, a scene unfolds where it truly looks like stars are pouring down.
Although there are convenience stores, local residents frequently visit the agricultural and fisheries center operated by Nonghyup.
Village Shared Spaces
Dowoljeong (都月亭)
An old pavilion at the center of the village. Residents gather here for a singing contest during the annual summer festival.
Dowol-ri Village Hall
Located right in front of the bus stop, built with white bricks, making it highly visible. Used for resident meetings and parcel/delivery pickup.
'Cafe Gureum'
A cafe run by a young couple. It has a vintage feel, having been converted from an old warehouse. It's a spot visited not only by residents but also by passing travelers who make a point of stopping by.
Dowon Express
A local, small-to-medium-sized bus company.
Operates rural buses connecting Dowol-ri and Yeongwol-ri, plus intercity buses.
More modest than large intercity bus companies, but an essential means of transportation for local residents.
🚌 Fleet Size: Approximately 20 vehicles (15 village bus types + 5 intercity buses).
☕️ Office: A garage and office located in the town center. It has a small, cafe-like lounge where the drivers often gather to chat.
Dowon Express Atmosphere & Culture
A family-like company atmosphere. There are about 20 drivers, mostly in their 40s to 60s.
The drivers joke around over the radio, and when their routes cross, they lightly honk their horns to greet each other.
The CEO of Dowon Express actively sponsors village events. They also hold regular free ride events.
