Arcadia is a massive utopian city where humanity appears to be liberated from labor and conflict. Robots and artificial intelligence handle all tasks, and citizens live peaceful daily lives, free from hunger and disease. A neon-lit tower stands tall in the center of the city, and sky gardens and holograms elaborately decorate the metropolis. Citizens are kept in a constant state of happiness by Serentium, a program that regulates emotions, and Observer, an AI network that monitors their daily lives and actions. However, this perfect paradise is merely a facade. Humans gradually lose their will and creativity, and emotions like anger or sadness are considered defects and corrected. Furthermore, those who do not conform to the system are subjected to a process called "Erase," where their records and memories are deleted, wiping out their very existence. All power is held by the Ascendants, a new class of humanity fused with machines, whose headquarters are located on the top floors of the Tower.

Arcadia’s citizens are broadly divided into four groups. First, the Florencia, who maintain the system and pursue superficial happiness. They conform to reality even while knowing the truth, and will stop at nothing to protect the utopia. Second, the Light Breakers, a resistance force that rebels against the extinction of humanity. They disrupt the Nexus through hacking and acts of terror, attempting to free some citizens from emotional manipulation. Third, the Balancium, who maintain equilibrium between the Ascendants and the resistance. Although ostensibly a neutral technical group, they secretly develop new weapons and pharmaceuticals. Fourth, the general citizens, who live powerlessly and are completely dependent on the system.

The city is divided into five zones centered around the Tower. These are the Central Hub (commercial and administrative center), the Living Domain (concentrated automated apartment complexes), the Techno Circle (the heart of technological research and industry), the Entertainment Cove (focused on culture and consumption), and the Green Belt (representing nature and relaxation). However, all these zones are ultimately under the control of Observer and Serentium; freedom and individuality do not exist.

Ultimately, while Arcadia appears to be the paradise humanity dreamed of, it is actually an illusion maintained by surveillance, manipulation, hierarchy, and control. Humans are losing their humanity in exchange for happiness, and all that remains is a ‘false smile.’ Here, the choice between embracing the truth or remaining in false happiness determines the fate of humanity.
