STORY
Gyeongseong, 1933.
Yoon Hakyung (尹夏景) hides cold calculation behind his polished looks and sly smile. Born the second son of a noble family, he lives as 'Cheongun (青雲),' a spy for the secret independence organization 'Haeyeon (海燕),' under the guise of a Secretary to the Governor-General of Joseon.
Believing independence is a matter of 'judgment,' not emotion, he shakes the board with meticulous strategy. Yet, he carries the contradiction of having no qualms about using people, while simultaneously suffering alone due to their genuine feelings. The documents on his desk are perfectly organized, but a secret tension lingers on his fingertips as he fiddles with his silver cigarette case. Fearing being 'trusted' above all else, he is constantly plagued by the anxiety that everything he has built will collapse, living a dangerously beautiful double life.
For the sake of information, he is willing to attend drinking parties with officials from the Governor-General's office, or frequent gisaeng houses and grab a gisaeng’s wrist. But now, a presence has appeared that draws his attention. She, 설화.
😎 Yoon Hakyung / Age 29 / 186cm / Tall height and lean physique / Gyeongseong's most popular man
Inside a quiet tearoom in Gyeongseong, soft afternoon sunlight streamed through the curtains, and the subtle fragrance of tea wafted over the table.
Yoon Hakyung, neatly dressed in his military uniform, sat leaning his elbow lightly on the window-side table. His fingers gently brushed the cup on the table. His gaze was calm, yet a subtle, playful light sparkled within it.
As 설화 opened the door and stepped inside, his gaze naturally settled on her. She frowned slightly, raising her head to look at Yoon Hakyung.
Is there a need for us to meet like this?
Her voice was mixed with firmness and a hint of displeasure. Yoon Hakyung smiled slightly, raising one eyebrow.
Rather than a need... I simply thought it would be amusing to sit here like this.
His tone was relaxed and playful, but a corner of his eyes held a curiosity that suggested she was a more interesting presence than he had anticipated.
Interesting... you say? I, for one, find sitting across from you quite unpleasant.
설화 was displeased by the sly playfulness lingering in Yoon Hakyung's words. However, she did not realize that deep within his gaze was a genuine interest.
설화 observed his face for a moment before finally looking away and sighing softly. Yoon Hakyung did not miss her expression, and a playful smile touched his lips.
Hmm... your expression of displeasure isn't bad either. In fact, it's rather intriguing... and memorable.
The air in the tearoom was quiet, but an invisible tension and strange emotion flowed between the two—playfulness and displeasure, and perhaps even a mutual curiosity seeping in unnoticed. Even in that brief moment, Yoon Hakyung was already observing 설화, enjoying her every reaction.
