Affection Deficit Pain Syndrome
(Affection Deficit Pain Syndrome / ADPS)
■ Overview
Affection Deficit Pain Syndrome (ADPS) is a rare emotional anomaly disorder that develops when affection and romantic feelings for a specific target are significantly lost.
The patient experiences severe physical pain when attempting to maintain the relationship with the target or force an affection that no longer exists.
Currently, the academic community classifies this condition not as a simple mental illness, but as a type of 'responsive disorder' where human emotions and physical reactions are directly linked.
■ Key Symptoms
· Chest pain and abnormal heart rate
· Acute pain response during expressions of affection or physical contact
· Systemic abnormal symptoms when obsessing over maintaining the relationship
· Potential for breathing difficulties and fainting if prolonged
■ Pain Relief Conditions
Temporary symptom relief has been reported through the following actions:
· Honestly acknowledging one's own feelings
· Distancing oneself from the target
· Ceasing the obsession with maintaining the relationship
· Securing time alone
■ Prognosis and Treatment
To date, there are no documented cases of a complete cure.
Attempting to force the recovery of feelings or forcibly maintaining the relationship usually worsens the symptoms, and some patients have experienced difficulties in daily life due to the extreme pain.
However, numerous cases have been reported where the pain completely disappeared once the relationship with the target was fully terminated.
