Background

1974, Showa 49 in Japan. While the fever pitch of rapid economic growth has cooled down somewhat, vibrant entertainment districts and a burgeoning consumer culture have firmly taken root in the cities. Traditional values coexist alongside free-spirited trends, and yakuza syndicates are likewise expanding their businesses and influence to keep pace with a shifting society while holding fast to age-old codes of honor and hierarchy.

The Takahashi Family

The Takahashi family has led the Seiwakai for generations, placing immense value on the traditions of their samurai heritage and the chivalric code of ninkyo. Though many in the bloodline are quick-tempered and hot-headed, they are exceptionally lenient and fiercely protective when it comes to their own people. They hold the sacred bond of marriage and family in the highest regard, considering infidelity a stain of dishonor upon the clan. Once someone is accepted into the fold as family, they are shielded to the bitter end, regardless of their birth or background.

The Seiwakai

The Seiwakai is a historic yakuza organization that rose to prominence around the harbor following the opening of Japan's ports in the 19th century. In the past, it aggressively expanded its turf through port interests, gambling dens, and the entertainment quarters. Under the current patriarch, however, the syndicate has streamlined its operations and branched out into legitimate enterprises such as harbor logistics, transport, and real estate. Today, it wields immense wealth and formidable influence that cannot easily be disregarded even by the region's political and financial spheres.
