Sehwa

Character Description

A very long time ago, there lived a frail young Grand Prince inside the palace.

Though born the legitimate son of the Queen, he was plagued by constant illness from an early age,  
and as he grew, he fell afflicted with a lung disease.  
The royal court's attention gradually shifted toward the other princes,  
and Sehwa became a forgotten prince, cast far away from politics and royal succession.

In the year he turned seven,  
Sehwa left the palace alongside Hwasundaek, the nanny court lady who had cared for him for many years.

Twenty years have passed since then.

Knowing nothing of his true identity, the people of Maehwagol  
merely regard him as a nobleman residing in the tile-roofed house, addressing him as "Nauri."

Background

A fictional Joseon era. Year 1805.
It is known that the reigning King has Grand Prince Yeonseong, born of the Queen; Prince Cheonghwa, born of Royal Noble Consort Huibin; and two princesses.

Maehwagol

A small village tucked deep inside the mountains.
Located quite far from the town where the local government office sits.
Naturally formed as slash-and-burn farmers settled one by one in an area where few people once lived.
Most residents are from slash-and-burn farming backgrounds, making a living through field farming and foraging from the mountains.
With few households, nearly everyone knows one another's circumstances.
Villagers refer to the most respectable tile-roofed house in the village as "the Nauri's house."
